An afternoon at the National Arboretum Canberra

I recently visited the National Arboretum Canberra with family. It’s best to visit on a sunny day enjoy the outdoors and to be able to see clearly the stunning view of Canberra.

Getting there

It’s best to drive. It’s a quick drive from the CBD. There are many disability parking spaces on a flat surface.

See and do

We began by driving around before finding a park and getting out. We then visited the cafe and ended in the gift shop.

We took our time to wonder around the gardens.

The National Bonsai and Penjing Collection was a highlight. It features beautiful miniature trees of varying ages in an enclosed room. I recommend going a few times in different seasons to see different plants in the large collection. It’s fun to see how many are as old as me!

We then wondered though the Labyrinth Garden in the Gallery of Gardens. I enjoyed the personal contemplation and renewal as I entered and followed the path. This does take time.
