World Mental Health Day 2018

Today, 10 October, is World Mental Health Day. A day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy.

It’s important to look after your mental health. This is 7 ways I look after my mental health. I like to have a routine.

Sleep

Sleep is important. I wear pyjamas that I like and use pretty smelling lavender fragrance.

Keep learning

I like to keep my mind active. There is so much to do. Some things I like to do include to bake, watch videos, go places, take photos.

I also like to do my research and write things down. This helps me to remember too.

Eat well

I feel better by eating good food. It helps to shop with a list and to plan what to eat and when to eat it.

Stay active

It feels good to move my body in any way it can and in a way that I enjoy. I like to lift weights, box, push my chair, do yoga. I also like to play sports with my favourites being wheelchair basketball, sit skiing and tennis.

Get outdoors

A blue sky with sunshine brings a smile. I love to look at beautiful views.

Pets & animals

I like to spend time with pets. Animals are calming. They enjoy the company too.

Seek help

I have spoken to friends, family and a GP. A GP was able to make a diagnosis, discuss treatment options, and referred me to other support.
